Consider the Lillies

Consider the lilies how they grow: they toil not, they spin not; and yet I say unto you, that Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.  Luke 12:27

I’m not a regular reader of the Bible, but I like this passage. I first heard Richard Herring recite it in his AIOTM podcast.

I thought I could fill this entry with quotes about flowers. There are loads of them out there, but I haven’t found many that speak to me. Here’s one from Rumi. And a poem by Zenkei Shibayama. Another next step is to learn more and write about Rumi.

Be crumbled.
So wild flowers will come up where you are.
You have been stony for too many years.
Try something different.
― Rumi

Silently a flower blooms,

In silence it falls away;

Yet here now, at this moment, at this place,

The world of the flower, the whole of

the world is blooming.

This is the talk of the flower,

the truth of the blossom;

The glory of eternal life is fully shining here.

—Zenkei Shibayama

I long to sit down one day and tell the world how I feel about the buds, and blossoms that decorate the world. NFor now, this post is all I can muster.
