Compassion for those who know no better

I’m trying to understand why people refuse to social distance and wear a mask. Do they think themselves invincible? Do they believe that the elderly and people with conditions like diabetes and heart disease are expendable?

I’m striving to feel compassion and empathy for Americans who are making foolish choices during the pandemic. After all, fear can make people go a little crazy.

Of course, being afraid is a reasonable response to our situation. Some of us will die, and some will incur medical debt they can never repay. Sadly, many will lose everything.

I’m sorry there isn’t much I can do to help. I’ll try and do what I can.
